Anxiety and Depression

Your Anxiety and Depression Have Roots, Not Just Branches
Most of the strategies you’ve tried address the symptoms.
The rumination, the low mood, the tension that follows you into the weekend.
Those aren’t the problem.
They’re the branches.
The Roots Go Back Further
How conflict got handled in your house growing up.
What you had to do to feel loved, or safe, or good enough.
The unspoken rules you absorbed before you even knew you were absorbing them.
The patterns didn’t start with the job stress or the breakup. They started earlier — and until we look there, the same weeds keep growing back.

How I Help You Find the Root
When we start working together, I spend real time on your history.
Not just a checklist: A real developmental picture of where you grew up, what your family was like, and when the anxiety or low mood first showed up. That context tells me what we’re actually working with.
From there, we get practical. I use cognitive tools to help you identify the thinking patterns that are making things worse: the distortions you’ve been running so long they feel like facts.
You’ll learn to interrupt them.
Then We’ll Go Forward Further
Therapy, in my view, should produce behavioral change.
Not just insight.
Not just talking.
Specific things to practice between sessions, accountability for how it went, honest reporting back.
That’s the rhythm.

What Shifts When Your Root System Changes
My clients tell me they feel genuinely listened to. They develop real self-awareness.
Not the kind that names the problem, but the kind that lets them see it coming and make a different choice. They leave with tools they can use.
That’s the goal: get rid of the weeds so you can start planting something that actually grows.
I’ve been doing this work for 30 years. I don’t promise transformation.
I promise a thorough process, practical tools, and honest work between us.
